Mike Berry
Mike Berry (* 24. September 1942 as Michael Bourne in Northampton ) is a British singer and actor .
Live and act
In the early 1960s, Berry was employed for some time in the recording studio of producer Joe Meek and often played with the outlaws, who, among other things , acted as a backing band for Heinz and supported him, for example, with his successful title Just Like Eddie . Like Meek, Berry also had a soft spot for Buddy Holly , which at the time seemed to have been the number 1 hiring criterion at Meek.
In 1961 Berry released his first song - Tribute to Buddy Holly , which reached number 18 in the UK charts. He was accompanied by the Outlaws, whose members on this recording included Ritchie Blackmore and Chas Hodges . In the 1960s he had two other small chart successes (including Don't You Think It's Time? " , No. 6 UK in 1963 ), where his style and appearance often confused him with Dave Berry , but there was no connection between the two .
In the 1970s, Mike Berry worked primarily as an actor for British television. In August 1980 he suddenly returned to the charts with the song The Sunshine of Your Smile , produced by his old colleague Chas Hodges, for which he was awarded a silver record in 1980. With the song If I Could Only Make You Care he reached the top 50 again in the same year. Berry is still touring the UK at vintage events and is now and again in front of the camera for commercials or as a supporting actor in feature films.
