Mike Kinsella (born March 4, 1977 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American emo and indie rock musician and has been involved in numerous well-known band projects. At the moment he is mainly working as a solo artist. His brother Tim Kinsella and his cousin Nate Kinsella are also musicians.

Career

Mike Kinsella first became known as a member of Cap'n Jazz , an emocore band from the very beginning. In 1995 he moved from Cap'n Jazz to Joan of Arc , an experimental indie band founded by his brother Tim Kinsella . While he was playing with Joan of Arc, the group The One Up Downstairs formed with Steve Lamos, the brothers David Johnson and Allen Johnson , in which Mike Kinsella soon joined as a singer.

After this formation broke up, Mike Kinsella, Steve Lamos and Steve Holmes founded the band American Football in 1997 . In Polyvinyl Records 1998 EP and 1999 LP were published. After leaving in 2000, Mike Kinsella tried to revive the original formation of Cap'n Jazz under the new band name Owls . The group consisted of Mike, his brother Tim Kinsella, Victor Villarreal and Sam Zurick. In 2001 a long player was released.

In 2001 Mike Kinsella also started his current solo project Owen , in which he plays everything that can be heard himself. Mike later returned to a number of projects by Joan of Arc and Love of Everything , a band run by Bobby Burg . In 2004 Mike Kinsella could also be seen and heard with Rainer Maria .
