Owen is a music project by emo and indie musician Mike Kinsella from Chicago , Illinois .

Band history

Mike Kinsella, a defining figure in the Chicago emo scene, starred in Cap'n Jazz , Joan of Arc , The One Up Downstairs , American Football and Owls before starting his 2001 project Owen, with which he became a singer-songwriter - Understanding wanted to develop and realize my own musical ideas. Therefore, he often worked alone to record his compositions. Mike Kinsella played the first album with software funded by Polyvinyl Records . So far five more long players have been released under the project name Owen. In between, Mike Kinsella found time to record an album for Joan of Arc with brother Tim Kinsella and others.

style

In contrast to the previous emo and post-rock productions by Kinsella, Owen's music is characterized by soft melodies, restrained instrumentation and melancholy vocals.
