Mike Salay

Michael Szalai called Mike Salay (born June 10, 1909 in South Bend , Indiana , † November 19, 1973 ibid) was an American racing driver .

Career

Salay started in eight races for the AAA National Series between 1948 and 1951 . He achieved his best result in 1949 on the Trenton circuit in sixth place.

In 1948 , 1949 and 1951 he tried to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 mile race . Only his first attempt in 1948 was successful. From 31st place on the grid he drove a Wetteroth - Offenhauser for only 13 laps until his engine went on strike.
