Mike Stud (born October 30, 1988 in Providence , Rhode Island ; actually Michael Francis Seander Jr. ) is an American rapper.
Career
Before Mike Seander became a rapper, he was a very successful college baseball player. He played basketball and baseball in high school, and in his senior year at St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket , he was named Baseball Player of the Year in his home state of Rhode Island in 2006 and was awarded a university scholarship. In his first year at Duke University , he set a new university record as a pitcher , but then had to take a long break after an arm injury.
During this time he discovered his passion for rapping and wrote the song College Humor about partying as a student. At first the song was only successful in student circles, then in 2010 he put it online under the name Mike Stud with a self-made video on YouTube and thus reached over 1.5 million views. A video released immediately afterwards with the song In This Life exceeded that number again.
In October 2011 he released his first mixtape , entitled A Toast to Tommy, for download on iTunes , where he reached number 2 on the hip-hop charts and made it into the US R&B charts. In spring 2013 his first album Relief was released and immediately took him to the US album charts at number 55. He signed with 300 Entertainment , which belongs to the major label Atlantic Records , and released his second album a year later, entitled Closer . It debuted at number 13 on the official album charts, came in at number 2 on the R&B charts and topped the rap album charts. At the beginning of 2016 the album These Days was released , which again reached top 10 positions in R&B and rap charts. The title song is his most successful release on the internet with over 6 million views for the official video and another almost 5 million for the Rap Nation upload.
