Michael Rasumny

Michael Rasumny (* 13. May 1890 in Odessa ; native Mychaiil Olexandrowytsch Rasumnyj / Ukrainian Михайло Олександрович Разумний , Russian Михаил Александрович Разумный ; † 17th February 1956 in Los Angeles ) was a Russian actor .

Life

Rasumny has been on stage since he was 15 and was a member of the Moscow Art Theater . He first acted in front of the camera as early as 1918. He came to Berlin in the late 1920s and appeared in several silent films. He had his only small role in a German sound film in 1930 in Das alten Lied .

In 1933 he left Germany and went to France. In 1937 he came to New York , where he appeared on theaters there and also directed. In 1940 the MGM film company signed him to Hollywood . In the following decade he was often seen as Mikhail Rasumny in small roles and embodied mostly Slavic or Hispanic characters.
