Mikkel Thygesen (born October 22, 1984 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish football player .

Thygesen started at Greve IF and Brøndby IF in youth before moving to BK Frem København , where he made his professional football debut in the 2002/03 season. With these he made it to the super league , where he became a regular player with 30 games.

When the relegation was established at the end of the 2003/04 season, Thygesen moved to league rivals FC Midtjylland . There he was also part of the regular team and was appointed to the Danish U21 national team for the first time in November 2004. With this selection he also took part in the U21 European Championship in 2006.

On November 15, 2006 Thygesen made his debut in the national team when he came on in a friendly against the Czech Republic for Christian Poulsen .

On January 9, 2007, Borussia Mönchengladbach announced that Thygesen had signed a contract valid until 2010. Thygesen was never able to assert himself at his new club and was only used five times in the Bundesliga. After the 2006/2007 season Thygesen was bought back by his old club, FC Midtjylland .

On June 1, 2011 Brøndby IF announced the signing of Thygesen.
