Miklós Gábor [ ˈmikloːʃ ˈɡaːbor ] (born April 7, 1919 in Zalaegerszeg , † July 2, 1998 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian theater and film actor.

life and work

Gábor graduated from the Drama Academy in Budapest from 1937 to 1940 and was engaged at the Imre Madách Theater from 1941 to 1945 . From 1945 to 1954 he worked at the National Theater (Budapest) , then from 1954 to 1975 again at the Madách Theater, and later again at the National Theater and other major stages in the country. Gábor gained wide popularity primarily as a film actor. The good-looking, sensitive actor began his film career in 1947 in Géza von Radványis Somewhere in Europe (Valahol Európában) and in the 1960s became something like a Hungarian counterpart to Marcello Mastroianni or Yves Montand . Typical is the (imaginary) hero role that he was allowed to play in István Szabó 's first great success Father (Apa) .

Gábor was married to the actress Éva Ruttkai , with whom he had a daughter in 1953. After the divorce he married the actress Éva Vass.
