Geographical location of Milenge

Milenge is a place in the province of Luapula in Zambia . It is around 1,150 meters above sea level and has around 4,000 inhabitants. The administration of the district of the same name has its seat in it. The district has 28,790 inhabitants (2000 census). The Luapula flows in the south and forms the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

economy

Large parts of the district are covered by the southern foothills of the Bangweul swamps. Agriculture and fishing are the main sources of income. Mainly cassava , millet and corn are grown. There are 500 beekeepers who produced five tons of honey in 2004. It is a poor and underdeveloped district. There is a large corn-growing area near Milambo.

Infrastructure

A 160 km long, unpaved road leads to Mansa. The road to Ndola in the Copperbelt is 130 kilometers long and is the most used for sales. In Lwela Mission there is a simple hospital for the entire district.
