The Miles Island is a 5 km long island in the High Jump archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Wilke country . In the group of the Mariner Islands , it lies immediately north of the Booth Peninsula .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used to map them. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1956 after Richard A. Miles, a crew member on the flights during Operation Highjump to take aerial photographs of the coastline between 14th and 164th degrees east.
