Military history. Journal for Historical Education is a general-interest magazine , published by the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr (ZMSBw) in Potsdam, formerly Military History Research Office (MGFA), represented by Captain Jörg Hillmann and Colonel Frank Hagemann.

It has been published every three months since 1986 and has a current circulation of 17,000 copies (as of 2002: 25,000 copies). The magazine serves the historical education in the troops. It wants to support the trainer who is entrusted with the preparation and implementation of the relevant teaching units. At the same time, it should appeal to anyone interested in history and introduce them to military history.

The current editorial team includes Harald Potempa , Klaus Storkmann, Helene Heldt, Cornelia Grosse, Sascha Gunold, Chris Helmecke, Friederike Höhn and Esther Geiger (photo editor). Guest contributions by internal and external scientists such as Eberhard Birk , Klaus-Jürgen Bremm , Jürgen Dick , Christian Hartmann , Dieter H. Kollmer , Martin Rink , Matthias Rogg , Josef Johannes Schmid and Gerhard Wettig have been published in recent years.
