Josef Johannes Schmid

Josef Johannes Schmid (born February 25, 1966 in Munich ) is a German historian . He is an adjunct professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz .

Life

Schmid studied Middle and Modern History, Musicology and Church History in Munich, Rome and Madrid from 1985 to 1990 as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . In 1995 he was at Hans Schmidt of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich on Alexander Sigismund von der Pfalz to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1996 to 2001 he was a scholarship holder of the German Historical Institute Paris (DHIP) and the Görres Society in Paris. In 1997 he was given a teaching position at the history seminar of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . In 1998 he received a scholarship at the German Study Center in Venice (DSZV). In 2003, the habilitation in Modern History , supervised by Peter Claus Hartmann , about the royal consecration of Louis XV followed. He then became a private lecturer , and in 2010 he was given an extraordinary professorship . He was also a visiting professor at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon and a lecturer at the University of Passau .

His main research interests include different regions as well as cultural, church and military history. Schmid consultant is (for "Western Church of modern times - the Council of Trent to Vatican I") of the under the patronage of Cardinal Walter Brandmüller standing lexicon of the councils . He published u. a. in the Biographical-Bibliographical Church Lexicon and in Religion Past and Present as well as in the yearbook for West German regional history .
