The military technical school "Erich Habersaath" (short MTS of the LaSk or MTS Prora) was a training facility for the land forces of the NVA in Prora . It was named on December 1, 1969 after the workers' leader Erich Habersaath .

history

The laying of the foundation stone for the site, which was originally planned as a KdF seaside resort but was never used as such, took place on May 2, 1936, but construction did not start until November. The military school was then located in one of these six-story blocks after the Second World War. In 1968 a technical non-commissioned officer school (TUS) was established, which was named after Habersaath (1893–1918; worker leader and the first victim of the November Revolution in Berlin) a year later. The Land Forces Missile Training Center 40 , under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel (later Colonel) Martin, was also located in Prora as an independent training facility for the land forces' rocket troops. The RAZ-40 was deployed on January 1, 1977. The RAZ-40 was created by merging the RAA 25 (tactical missiles) and the RAA-15 (operational tactical missiles). It served to train soldier specialists and to train NCOs of the rocket troops of the NVA land forces. There are also qualifications of cadets carried out and officers. On November 30, 1986, the RAZ-40 was dissolved and taken over as subject 8 in the military technical school "Erich Habersaath".

In the communications engineering department, specialists were trained in the repair of military radio and telecommunications technology.

In 1990 the school was taken over by the Bundeswehr . It was then disbanded on September 30, 1991 on the orders of the Bundeswehr Command East .
