Milner Place

Milner Place (born January 25, 1930 in Thirsk , North Yorkshire ) is a British writer .

Life

Before his military service from 1948 to 1950, he worked as a logger, then briefly studied at an agricultural college, worked as a bartender and ran a farm. In 1953 he sailed to South Africa and worked in a copper mine. In 1955 he returned to England and worked in the journalistic field. In 1958 he sailed to New York and lived in the Bahamas from 1958 to 1961 .

In 1961 he bought his own ship and sailed it to Mallorca via Miami and England . During the Algerian war he worked as a smuggler . He spent the years 1962 and 1963 in Bilbao and Madrid. In 1965, as captain , he transferred a sailing ship built in the Netherlands to Lisbon. In the following years he drove several ocean regattas with Juan Carlos de Bourbon, who later became King of Spain . In 1966 he converted a barge into a yacht in Denmark . In 1967 and 1968 he operated a yacht charter for wedding couples in Malta and regularly sailed the route via Lampedusato Tunesia. In 1969 he was a consultant for Forte's International Hotels in Sardinia and Greece before organizing a fishing fleet in Ecuador. Shortly thereafter, he fled to Peru on allegations of piracy . He then worked there for the Manu River project and for similar projects in Brazil and Panama. In 1971 he returned to England and then lived for a while as a photographer in the Canary Islands . In 1973 he went to Mexico to write a novel. In 1976 he moved - now with his partner Dorothy and stepson Paul - to Mallorca.

He wrote his first poems on Mallorca in Spanish. After settling in Huddersfield / Great Britain in 1987, he began to write poetry in English.
