Milo B. Lory (born November 12, 1903 in Indiana , United States , † December 3, 1974 in Hollywood , California ) was an American sound engineer and Oscar winner .

Live and act

Lory had lived in Los Angeles since childhood . Whether he ended up in the film business immediately after completing his training cannot be said with certainty. His first involvement in a film can only be proven at the age of 50. Lory was hired by the production company MGM and entrusted with the sound editing of several films. In the following years Lory was also involved in productions of other employers and provided the sound effects and the sound editing for such star-studded large-scale productions as In 80 Days Around the World , Ben Hur and Mutiny on the Bounty . For his work on Ben Hur he was together with colleague A. Arnold Gillespieand Robert MacDonald awarded an Oscar. There was another Oscar nomination, again at Gillespie's side, for Mutiny on the Bounty . Lory remained active until 1971, when he retired into private life.
