Milorad Jovanović (singer)
Milorad Jovanović ( Cyrillic милорад Јовановић , also known as Mile Yovanovitch ; born May 12, 1897 , Velika Plana , Kingdom of Serbia ; † May 20, 1966 , London ) was a Yugoslavian opera singer ( bass baritone ) and professor at the Belgrade Music Academy .
Life
Jovanović worked at the National Theater Belgrade from 1921 to 1927 and then until 1930 at the Brussels Opera House La Monnaie . In Brussels he took part in the world premieres of the operas The Gambler by Sergei Sergejewitsch Prokofjew , in the role of the general, and in the role of Tiresias in Antigone by Arthur Honegger . In 1931 he returned to the Belgrade Opera House, where he stayed until 1941. During this period he also taught at the Belgrade Music Academy for several years.
