Milton ( Gaelic Airidh-Mhuilinn ) is the name of a lease farm on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland . He is considered one of the possible birthplaces of the Jacobite heroine Flora MacDonald (1722-1790). She is also said to have spent part of her childhood here. However, there are now doubts that Flora MacDonald was born here or lived here longer.
A monument dedicated to her stands by the remains of the village.
In Milton there are also ruins of so-called blackhouses, which, according to excavations, were said to have been inhabited between 1790 and 1830.
