Milton (also obsolete Milton of Colquhoun ) is a village in West Dunbartonshire in Scotland .

Milton is about a kilometer east of Dumbarton on the A82 , which connects Glasgow to Inverness via Fort William .

Originally there were two primary schools in the village on the long way to Overtoun House on the main road into Glasgow, which are now closed. It is not known when the second school (on the Ouvertun road) opened or closed, although this probably happened in the 19th or early 20th century as the architecture of the house fits into that period. Milton also has an SSPCA shelter. It is also home to the Dumbuck Quarry quarrying operation which has mined much of Dumbuck Hill.

Milton is best known for the former home of racing driver Jackie Stewart . His family ran an auto repair shop in the village. Another local is the flying ace Ian Napier .
