Minas Cheras
Minas Tscheras ( Armenian Մինաս Չերազ ; born July 25, 1852 in Hasköy in Constantinople , † 1929 in Marseille , France ) was an Armenian writer and teacher and a figure in public life. He was a grandson of Kaspar Amira Tscherasian and brother of Kaspar Tscheras .
Minas Tscheras received his education at the Nersessian and Nubar-Shahnasarian schools in Hasköy. He taught at various Armenian schools and became secretary to Patriarch Nerses II Varjapetian . In 1878 he accompanied the Armenian delegation to the Berlin Congress as a translator and secretary . Even after the congress he maintained talks with British and Russian politicians on the Armenian question. 1886-89 he was rector of the Armenian Getronagan high school in Constantinople. In 1889 he fled Constantinople to London, where he published the newspaper L'Arménie-Armenia and promoted the Armenian cause. 1898-1908 he lived in Paris. After the fall of Sultan Abdülhamid II , he returned to Constantinople for two years. From 1910 to 1929 he lived in France.
