Valdemarsvik is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Östergötland County and the historic province of Östergötland . The place is the main town of the municipality of the same name .
Located at the inner end of the 16 km long and between 0.3 and 1.5 km wide Valdemarsviken bay was first mentioned in 1664. At that time Valdemarsvik was not yet independent, but belonged to Söderköping .
