The Mindelrieder Paradies is a nature reserve (NSG-00091.01) in the Mindel valley , in the Bavarian municipality of Balzhausen in the district of Günzburg in Germany, designated by ordinance of July 24, 1970 by the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance .
Same area as FFH area 7628-301 "Riedellandschaft-Talmoore" or part of SPA area 7828-471 "Mindeltal".
location
The around 32 hectare nature reserve is a drained and therefore bushy low moor on the Flossach south of Balzhausen. It is the only remaining low moor in the valley south of the Danube with the remains of the typical flat moor flora and meadow-breeding bird species. Regular care prevents further encroachment. A hydrological rehabilitation is planned. In 2011, a number of shallow hollows were created in agricultural meadows by farmers and the State Association for Bird Protection in Bavaria , which regularly become completely wet and provide a habitat for amphibians.
The Kleine Flossach , which connects the Hasel and Mindel rivers, flows through the reserve .
