Exterior
The only difference between the mini Shetland pony and the Shetland pony is the height of the stick : it has a maximum height of 87 centimeters. It is usually compact, but also elegant in stature and comes in all colors .
Breeding history and distribution
Mini Shetland ponies were bred to their present form in the royal breed of Queen Victoria , among others . The oldest stallions of the Minishetlands can be traced back to 1871, such as B. Jack , Odin and Thor in England. The most famous breeding lines are those of Marshwood in England and Mury-Marais in Belgium. This particular form of the pony has now spread across Europe. In Great Britain, the Netherlands and Germany in particular there are numerous breeds. There is another breed in the USA - the American Miniature Horse .
