Ministry of Youth and Sports (Malaysia)
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) or Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (German: Ministry for Youth and Sports ) is a ministry of the State of Malaysia .
The ministry is responsible for implementing Malaysia's political goals in the field of youth and sport.
history
The history of the ministry goes back to 1953, when a cultural department was established within the Department of Public Welfare . This cultural department was responsible for all matters relating to child and youth welfare .
In 1964 the cultural department was directly subordinated to the Ministry of Information . Following the trend of the youth to increasingly organize themselves in associations and interest groups, a youth division was launched to accompany these activities and to bind them ideologically to the goals of the government. At the same time, the "Sport" section was set up within the Ministry of Information.
As part of the national holiday on May 15, 1964, the Ministry of Youth and Sports was finally founded as an independent ministry. In 1972 the "Culture" division was set up and led to the renaming of the ministry to "Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports". It wasn't until 1987, when the cultural department came to the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism , that the original name was restored, which still exists today.
