The Ministry of Transport (MOT) or Kementerian Pengangkutan is the Ministry of Transport of the State of Malaysia with its headquarters in Putrajaya .

The ministry's remit covers all aspects of transport in the areas of civil aviation, land transport and seafaring. The ministry operates state-owned companies such as the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) railway company , the Puspakom vehicle inspection organization and various port companies. The ministry acts as a co-operator in the airport company Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) and in the state-owned airline Malaysia Airlines .

In 1956 the "Ministry of Transport" was founded. Several name changes followed. In 1978 the original name was reintroduced and it still exists today.

Civil Aviation Authority building in Putrajaya

Only one authority, the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), is subordinate to the aviation sector . This authority performs a function corresponding to that of the German Federal Aviation Office and mainly deals with aspects of flight safety and the monitoring and creation of standards in civil aviation.

  • Road Safety Department (JKJR)
The road safety authority JKJR was founded on September 15, 2004 with the aim of promoting and improving road traffic safety. One of its main goals is to raise the level of security to the level of advanced industrialized countries. The agency acts both at the federal and state levels.
  • Road Transport Department (RTD)
The road traffic authority RTD, which has existed since April 1, 1946, is responsible nationwide for the registration of vehicles and the issuing of driving licenses. It is also the enforcement authority for the Road Transport Act 1987 with regard to driving behavior and vehicle safety.
  • Railway Assets Corporation (RAC)
