Ministry of Transport (Malaysia)
The Ministry of Transport (MOT) or Kementerian Pengangkutan is the Ministry of Transport of the State of Malaysia with its headquarters in Putrajaya .
The ministry's remit covers all aspects of transport in the areas of civil aviation, land transport and seafaring. The ministry operates state-owned companies such as the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) railway company , the Puspakom vehicle inspection organization and various port companies. The ministry acts as a co-operator in the airport company Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) and in the state-owned airline Malaysia Airlines .

In 1956 the "Ministry of Transport" was founded. Several name changes followed. In 1978 the original name was reintroduced and it still exists today.

Sector Aviation (Aviation)
The Ministry is technically divided into the three areas of aviation, land transport and seafaring. In the field of aviation, the Ministry is responsible for civil aviation. In addition to monitoring flight operations and issuing licenses, he is also responsible for the operation and development of civil airports. Associated offices and institutions
The ministry includes the following offices and institutions:
Only one authority, the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), is subordinate to the aviation sector . This authority performs a function corresponding to that of the German Federal Aviation Office and mainly deals with aspects of flight safety and the monitoring and creation of standards in civil aviation.
The following offices and institutions are located in the area of land transport:
- Road Safety Department (JKJR)
- The road safety authority JKJR was founded on September 15, 2004 with the aim of promoting and improving road traffic safety. One of its main goals is to raise the level of security to the level of advanced industrialized countries. The agency acts both at the federal and state levels.
- Road Transport Department (RTD)
- The road traffic authority RTD, which has existed since April 1, 1946, is responsible nationwide for the registration of vehicles and the issuing of driving licenses. It is also the enforcement authority for the Road Transport Act 1987 with regard to driving behavior and vehicle safety.
- Railway Assets Corporation (RAC)
- The railway investment company RAC is a company under public law. It was registered under the Railways Act 1991 on July 30, 1992 and has been operating since October 1, 1992. At the same time, the state railway was privatized and continued to operate under state management as Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB). The business assets were transferred to the RAC.
- Department of Railway (DOR)
- The DOR Railway Authority was founded at the same time as the privatization of KTM and is responsible for creating and promoting a safe, efficient and inexpensive rail transport system in Malaysia.
- Road Safety Research Institute of Malaysia (MIROS)
- The MIROS Institute for Road Safety was founded on January 3, 2007. Its main task is the creation and provision of information and programs for traffic education, which are brought to the population via the print media. In addition, MIROS carries out studies on road safety and evaluates existing safety philosophies.

- The Penang Port Commission SPPP is responsible for the administration, operation and development of the Port of Penang.
- Port Authority of Johor (LPJ)
- The Port Authority of Johor LPJ is the supervisory authority for the ports of Pasir Gudang and Tanjung Pelepas.
- Port Klang Authority (PKA) / Malacca Port Authority
- The port authorities of Port Klang and Malacca Port are public companies that were founded on July 1, 1963 and took over the management of the ports from the then Malayan Railway .
- Port Kuantan / Kemaman Authority
- The port authorities of Port Kuantan / Kemaman were established on September 1, 1976 on the basis of the Port Authorities Act 1963. They are a company under public law and report to the Ministry of Transport.
- Bintulu Port Authority (LPB)
- The port authority of Bintulu Port is the supervisory authority of the oil and gas port of Bintulu and the associated container and general cargo ports.
- Maritime Institute of Malaysia
- The institute is responsible for carrying out scientific studies in the maritime sector.
