Denise Eisenberg Rich (born January 26, 1944 in Worcester (Massachusetts) , USA ) is an American / Austrian songwriter, philanthropist, fundraiser and lady of society in New York City .

Life

Denise Eisenberg was born and raised in the middle of Massachusetts, the daughter of a wealthy shoe manufacturer. After his death, she inherited her father's fortune. He had arranged Denise's marriage to Marc Rich and helped finance the groom's career as a commodities trader. The couple stayed together from 1966 until their divorce in 1996 and had three daughters.

In November 2011, Rich gave up her US citizenship and took the Austrian citizenship of her Jewish father's ancestors .

Philanthropist

Rich's daughter, Gabrielle Rich Aouad, died of leukemia in 1996 after previously surviving a lymph gland tumor . Rich then set up a cancer research foundation in New York City with the deceased's husband, Philip Aouad. The foundation, originally named G&P Foundation for Cancer Research , now bears the name Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research and states that 85 percent of donated income is used for research, only 7.2% for advertising revenue and 7.8% for administration.

Songwriter

Rich has been writing lyrics for well-known singers such as Natalie Cole , Celine Dion , Chaka Khan , Diana Ross and others since the 1980s . More recently, there have been texts for Mary J. Blige and Mandy Moore .
