Minken Fosheim , actually Birte Fosheim Wienskol (born March 20, 1956 in Oslo ; † June 7, 2018 there ) was a Norwegian actress and children's book author .

Life

Since the late 1970s, Minken Fosheim first worked in literary film adaptations broadcast by the Norwegian state television broadcaster NRK . She took on leading roles in the Ibsen dramas Die Frau vom Meer (1979) and Baumeister Solness (1981). She was also seen several times in films based on novels by the Norwegian author Nini Roll Anker , e.g. B. in Kvinnen og den svarte fuglen , 1982 (The woman and the black bird). She was booked for a Swedish production for the first time in 1983: she played a supporting role in the feature film Svarta fåglar (Black Birds) directed by Lasse Glomm based on a template by Espen Haavardsholm .

She became better known internationally in 1999 when she took over the role of Hilde's mother in the film Sofie's World (based on the philosophical novel of the same name by Jostein Gaarder ). In the same year she played a Norwegian teacher in the successful children's film Tsatsiki - Squids and First Kisses .

In 1992 she opened her own children's and youth theater in the Homansbyen district of Oslo under the name Minkens barne- og ungdomsteater . Minken Fosheim's children's books also became famous in the Scandinavian countries. In them she tried in a fairytale way to bring children closer to the life and music of composers and soloists such as Mozart , Beethoven , Grieg , Vivaldi or Ole Bull . CDs with selected works by the musicians were included with the books. In 1996 she was awarded the Riksmålsforbundet Children's and Youth Book Prize.

At the beginning of 2018, a neuroendocrine tumor was discovered near Fosheim . Despite medical treatment, she died on June 7, 2018 with her family as a result of the disease.
