Mircea II. Basarab (* 1422 ; † December 12, 1446 ) was brief ruler of Wallachia in 1442 .

He was the eldest legitimate son of Vlad II Dracul ; other brothers were Radu and Vlad III. Drăculea ; he was a grandson and namesake of Mircea cel Bătrân .

The entire family resided in Sighișoara until 1436 . In 1442 Mircea took over his father's business, but was immediately ousted by Basarab II . Mircea was sent to the Turks by Vlad II Dracul in 1444. The previously formed Turkish alliance should not be endangered. However, he also had his mandate from the Dragon Order , in which he had sworn to defend Christianity. In the battle of Varna that followed, the Christian army was largely wiped out.

On December 12, 1446, Mircea II was blinded by red-hot iron bars and buried alive on the orders of the Hungarians in the Boyard Council .
