The Miriam-Verlag , based in Jestetten ( Waldshut ) is established in 1972 a Catholic publishing house . He is one of the medium-sized Catholic publishers in German-speaking countries.
history
The Miriam publishing house was founded in January 1972 by Josef Künzli , who initially published his own religious writings and devotional objects, and later also other authors. In the mid-1980s, the publishing house was expanded to include its own printing house, which is still the place where a large part of the publishing program is produced today. In 1992 the founder of the publishing house and then managing director Josef Künzli died, whereupon his son Franz Künzli, who had been head of the printing company up to that point, took over the management. In the early 2000s, the publishing program was expanded to include DVDs and CDs, and books from the English and Spanish-speaking areas are regularly translated into German. The publisher also occasionally sells French and Dutch editions of its books. Today the publishing house has 10 employees and has its own book distribution.
Program and authors
The program of the Miriam-Verlag mainly includes non-fiction books , novels and children's books on Christian and Catholic topics, Marian apparitions and the veneration of saints as well as the teaching of the Catholic Church, as well as a large number of devotional and prayer slips, prayer books, song books and small letters. Since the mid-1980s, Miriam-Verlag has had a growing repertoire of writings and publications on Medjugorje . In addition, the books of internationally known Catholic speakers such as Alan Ames , Matthew Kelly , Joseph Vadakkel, James Mariakumar, Mary Usha, Briege McKenna, Marino Restrepo , and Fr. Joseph K. Bill have been published.
Series such as The Most Beautiful Stories of Mary by the pastor and Engelwerk member Karl Maria Harrer , and collections of subject-related experiences and stories published in small volumes also became more popular.
