Alfons Sarrach

Alfons Sarrach (born February 23, 1927 in Danzig ; † June 6, 2013 in Großenlüder ) was a German writer , Roman Catholic priest and publicist . His work is mainly concerned with the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Alfons Sarrach was born in Danzig on February 23, 1927 . After the end of the war he studied in Rome , Paris , Poznan and Warsaw and took the subjects of theology , philosophy and psychology .

After his ordination , he worked in education in Poland from 1952 to 1958 and in Germany from 1958 to 1965 . In the 1960s he took part in film productions in Bombay and Mato Grosso . He toured Kenya , Uganda , Tanzania , Myanmar , Thailand and India .

Since turning to journalism in 1965, he has been the senior political editor of various daily newspapers. In 1993 he and his wife founded the press service “The Christian of Tomorrow”.

Although Sarrach and his followers tried very hard to keep it quiet, Alfons Sarrach was a Catholic priest. He was removed from the editorial office of the conservative daily mail . After his laicisation , he was married to the historian Anneliese Hempel (1931–2009) and has three adopted children with her. He lived in Großenlüder and died on June 6, 2013.

The main focus of Sarrach's work is the Roman Catholic Church and Mariology .

In numerous books and articles, Sarrach campaigned for the church to recognize the alleged apparitions of Mary in Marpingen , Međugorje , Heroldsbach and Wigratzbad .

He was editor of the monthly publication "The Christian of Tomorrow".

Conflict with the diocese of Augsburg

In March 2011, the Augsburg bishop Konrad Zdarsa prohibited the director of the Wigratzbad prayer center and co-owner of the Kirche-heute-Verlag, Thomas Maria Rimmel, from further disseminating Sarrach's book The Victory of Atonement about the alleged mystic Antonie Rädler by decree .
