Carver Alan Ames (born November 9, 1953 in London ) is a Roman Catholic speaker, author and former martial artist. He was best known for his healing ministry and the three-volume work Through the Eyes of Jesus .

Life

Ames was born in London to an Irish woman and a British woman. As a teenager he was a member of a motorcycle gang and led a life marked by alcohol and crime. During this time he began Aikido to train and later emigrated to Australia, where he made it to the national team and eventually became its captain. In 1993 Ames had an experience of God whereupon he changed his life completely. He gave up his work and since then, with the permission of his Archbishop, has devoted himself only to evangelism as a lecture traveler and book author. He is married and has two children.

Act

Alan Ames says he has so-called mystical experiences again and again. These are expressed in visions and word revelations, but the Catholic Church has not yet issued an opinion on their authenticity. Alan Ames himself claims to obey the instructions of the official church.

Archbishop Barry James Hickey, who was responsible at the beginning of his work, and his successor Timothy Costelloe, as well as Auxiliary Bishop Donald George Sproxton , made positive comments about Ames' work and expressly allowed him to publicly exercise his work as a speaker and author. Rev. Richard Rutkauskas was placed at his side as a soul guide. He is charged with overseeing Alan Ames' ministry and also checking his writings for conformity with the teaching of the Catholic Church.

Alan Ames became known through reports of healings that are said to have occurred as a result of his prayers. His bishop has hundreds of healing reports from around the world for review and data collection. He regularly publishes his word revelations, which he claims to receive from God the Father, from Jesus Christ and from Mary, the mother of Jesus, in books.

For his book Through the Eyes of Jesus , which contains visions about life in the Holy Land, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem , Fouad Twal , gave the ecclesiastical printing permission (imprimatur) on August 15, 2011 .

Working internationally

The work of Alan Ames is promoted by prominent churchmen. Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory , Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta (Georgia, USA) invited Alan Ames in 2006 as one of the main speakers for the Eucharistic Congress, to which 20,000 participants were expected. Archbishop Elden Francis Curtiss of the Diocese of Omaha, USA presided over a day of prayer on April 9, 2008 during which Alan Ames gave a healing address.

Alan Ames has made lecture tours to over 20 countries on all continents, but mainly to Europe and North America . He is now one of the most famous Catholic speakers in the English-speaking world. He has already given healing lectures in the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth and in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem . In 2002 he held three seminars as part of World Youth Day in Toronto , a papal event.

Alan Ames has also been visiting Germany, Austria and Switzerland regularly for almost 20 years.

Since 2013 the Archdiocese of Freiburg has forbidden events with Alan Ames in its church premises on the grounds that "the healing ministry practiced by Mr. Ames is not compatible with the pastoral principles of the diocese".

Lecture topics and points of view

Although Ames often shares the path of his conversion in public lectures, he primarily focuses on conveying to his audience the value of a life led in faithfulness to the Church and out of the sacraments. So he lifts z. B. the importance of confession as an important and sometimes the only necessary part of any healing. In addition, he is committed to the daily celebration of the Eucharist with receiving communion. In circulars, Ames often addresses political and church issues, defending the teaching of the Catholic Church.
