Miroslav Ilić

Miroslav Ilić ( Serbian : Мирослав Илић; born December 10, 1950 in Mrčajevci , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a well-known Serbian folk singer and songwriter. He is also known by the nickname Slavuj iz Mrčajevaca (The Nightingale from Mrčajevci) and has worked with many well-known Yugoslav musicians, including Lepa Brena .

Most recently, Ilić commented negatively on the new generation of music videos in Serbia, which are becoming increasingly sexually provocative but unsuitable for the general audience.

Life

Ilić attended high school in Čačak and studied electrical engineering at the University of Skopje . His career began in 1972 with the song "Voleo sam devojku iz grada", which was written by Obrena Pjevovića and which he recorded in the Diskos recording studio. After this song Ilić was able to record great success with the songs "Oj, Moravo, tija reko", "Moravsko predvečerje", "Šumadija", whereupon he released his first record in 1979, "Sreli smo se, bilo je to davno" .

During the NATO offensive, Ilić got upset about all the singers who left the country, most of all about his former friend Šaban Šaulić . Ilić criticized the political engagement of singer Zorica Brunclik and her husband Miroljub Arandelovic Kemis (with whom he had worked on albums) and said that they had ruined PGP RTS distribution. Because of these statements, Brunclik and Kemis often went to court and charged him with defamation.

Miroslav Ilić continued his musical career continuously and did not attract public attention. He is one of the most famous singers in the former Yugoslav region who have not changed their style and image. That is why it rightly bears the name "slavuj iz Mrčajevaca" (Nightingale from Mrcajevci).
