Saban Šaulić
Šaban Šaulić (born September 6, 1951 in Šabac , Yugoslavia ; † February 17, 2019 in Bielefeld , Germany ) was a Yugoslav or Serbian folk and turbo-folk singer who was known as Rome .
life and career
At the age of 18 he was known with his first record release , an EP with the hit Dajte mi utjehu ( German : "Give me consolation") in Yugoslavia, while he completed his basic military service training with Miroslav Ilić in Bitola .
Later he was one of the most famous folk music singers in the Balkans and is still called the king ( Serbo-Croatian Краљ / Kralj ) of the folk due to his long music career . Šaulić lived in Belgrade with his wife Gordana and three children . He recorded a total of 23 singles and 32 albums; two best-of albums released. His first single was released in 1969 with the orchestra of Budimir Jovanović . His last album was released in 2008 and is called Milicu Stojan voleo (German: "Stojan loved Milica").
On the morning of February 17, 2019, Šaulić, who was on his way back from a concert in Bielefeld, was involved in a serious traffic accident on the A2 motorway near Gütersloh . Saulic was still able to get out of the car on his own, but collapsed on the way to the hospital. He then died in a Bielefeld hospital of heart failure as a result of internal bleeding, which was triggered by a ruptured aorta .
