Mital Sharipov

Mital Sharipov (born April 13, 1972 ) is a former Kyrgyz weightlifter .

Career

Sharipov reached ninth place in the class up to 56 kg at the 1989 World Championships . At the 1997 World Championships , he was fourth in the snatch in the class up to 83 kg. In 1998 he was fifth at the Asian Games in the class up to 77 kg. At the Asian Championships in 2000 he won the gold medal in the class up to 85 kg. In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney, where he finished 16th. In 2004 he was fifth in the class up to 94 kg at the Asian Championships . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Sharipov was the flag bearer of the Kyrgyz team at the opening ceremony. Shortly before his competition, however, he was disqualified for a doping violation and banned for life.
