Mitja Ferenc

Mitja Ferenc (born March 21, 1960 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian historian and professor at the University of Ljubljana .

Mitja Ferenc is the son of the Yugoslav partisan and historian Tone Ferenc .

He completed his history studies at the University of Ljubljana in 1985 with a diploma. In 1999 he completed his doctorate . He has been a lecturer at the Philosophical Faculty since 2001 and a professor since 2007.

Ferenc's research areas include the health system of the Yugoslav partisans in World War II , the Gottscheer Germans and other German ethnic groups in Slovenia, and the mass graves in Slovenia from the period immediately after the Second World War.

2004–2006 he was chairman of the Slovene Historians' Association and from 1990–2004 a member of the Commission for Hidden Mass Graves of the Slovene government.
