The Mitsudomoe Islands ( Japanese 三 つ ど も え 島 Mitsudomoe-jima , German 'three finger islands' , Norwegian Tresteinane 'three stone islands' ) are three small islands off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the southeastern branch of the Lützow-Holm-Bucht they are close to each other and 1.5 km west of the Strandnebba hill .
Aerial photographs and measurements by a Japanese Antarctic expedition carried out from 1957 to 1961 were used to map them. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Japanese designation in 1968 in a partial translation into English.
