The Mittlerer Ring in Leipzig is a ring-shaped road connection , which is intended to accommodate the traffic of the federal roads between the outer districts between the outer motorway ring , the Central German Loop , as well as the tangent quadrangle further inside and the inner city ring . It is only partially completed so far.

course

In the northern area between Gohlis (Landsberger Strasse) and Wahren (Pittlerstrasse) around a quarter of the entire route was completed by April 2012 . In the south, between Stötteritz and Knautkleeberg, a number of new buildings would be necessary , partly through residential areas, parks and forest areas. Due to the overall decline in car traffic, it is unlikely that this will be implemented in this area in the foreseeable future.

With the update of the zoning plan of the city of Leipzig in 2012, further sections of the middle ring will no longer apply. This concerns the new section between Essener Straße and Braunstraße (crossing Abtnaundorfer Park) in the north-east and the cross-connection from Bundesstraße 2 in Connewitz to Schönauer Straße in Großzschocher in the south .

realization

On December 15, 2010, a 2.2 km long section between Leipzig-Wahren and Leipzig-Möckern was opened to traffic. The new construction of the four-lane road with four bridges and retaining walls cost 59 million euros. Another 1.3 km long section between Leipzig-Möckern and Leipzig-Gohlis was opened to traffic on April 27, 2012. The total costs for this section amounted to 13 million euros.
