Miyako Maki
Miyako Maki ( Japanese 牧 美 也 子 , Maki Miyako ; born July 29, 1935 in Kobe , Hyōgo Prefecture ) is a Japanese mangaka .
She made her debut in 1957 with Hahakoi no Waltz . She was one of the first female mangaka to prevail. In 1960 she had a hit with Maki no Kuchibue , followed in 1963 by Ribon no Waltz . Back in 1968, she turned to, then newly created Josei - Manga to. She was one of the regular draftsmen of Papillon and Funny magazines . She later also published in his magazines. She had her biggest hit in the 1980s with Akujo Bible , which also ran successfully as a drama on Japanese television.
She is also known as the designer of the Licca-chan doll , the Japanese Barbie counterpart.
Maki is married to Matsumoto Leiji . She also drew several manga with him in the 1960s.
