The Portland rose Mme. Boll - synonym: Madame Boll - was bred in New York in 1843 by the rose cultivator Daniel Boll, an emigrated Swiss , and named after his wife. In 1859 the variety was brought to the European market by the French Boyau from Angers .
Variety characteristics
The rose variety Mme. Boll has an upright and compact growth. You can reach heights of 150 centimeters and a diameter of 100 centimeters.
The blooming time of the more frequent blooming rose variety Mme. Boll extends from June to October. The flowers have an intense fragrance. The rose-colored corollas are very double and can reach a diameter of up to 10 centimeters.
Location
The location should be sunny to partially shaded. It prefers nutrient-rich, deep and well- drained soils .
