The Modomahia (also Modo Mahut ) is a lake in East Timor with a surrounding wetland of about 2 km² with mangrove and swampy forests. It is located in Suco Clacuc ( Fatuberlio administrative office , Manufahi municipality ), near the coast of the Timor Sea .
Ecosystem
The lake is part of the Important Bird Area of the Clerec River . The ecosystem is largely intact and is one of the most important wetlands in the country for birds. The yellow-cheeked cockatoo ( Cacatua sulphurea ), the Australian darter ( Anhinga novaehollandiae ) and the piper goose ( Dendrocygna arcuata ) are numerous here . The Australian pygmy duck ( Nettapus pulchellus ) was also found here. Saltwater crocodiles live in the lake .
Together with the neighboring lakes Lagoa Wetanas and Welada , the region forms a wetland biotope totaling 200 km².
