The Clerec ( Clára, Clére, Cler ) is a river in the East Timorese municipality of Manufahi . The Clerec is one of several rivers in the south of the country that carry water in the rainy and dry seasons. It regularly causes flooding in its estuary, where there are a large number of lagoons. The surrounding land is declared an Important Bird Area .

It rises in the north of the Fatuberlio administrative office , before soon following the border between Fatuberlio and the Alas administrative office as far as its confluence . In the south the river almost disappears into swampy marshland with several lagoons. The largest lagoon, the Lagoa Mapliu, flows through the Clerec before it finally flows into the Timor Sea. A branch flows into the southern Lacló .
