The Moel Hebog ([ ˈmɔil ˈhɛbɔɡ ] Welsh for "bald mountain of the hawk") is a mountain in Snowdonia National Park in North Wales , County Gwynedd . It lies west of Beddgelert and east of Dolbenmaen . Moel Hebog is actually a group of mountain peaks in the northwest of the national park.

Because of the pronounced rock formations of the exposed main summit, it is a popular destination for geologists and mountaineers. The rock is mostly rhyolithic tuff (mostly tuff consisting of quartz fragments ). The ascent from Beddgelert is particularly suitable for mountaineers, with some other peaks also on the tour. The view from Moel Hebog over Snowdonia is one of the most popular photo opportunities.

The most important secondary peaks are the Moel yr Ogof (655 m) and the Moel Lefn (638 m). The whole group comprises a total of 12 peaks.
