The Mohaka River is a river in the north of the Hawke's Bay region in the east of the North Island of New Zealand . It rises from the Ahimanawa Range and flows 70 km in an east-southeast direction before flowing into Hawke Bay near the settlement of Mohaka , 20 km southwest of Wairoa .
New Zealand's highest railway bridge, the Mohaka Viaduct , crosses the river near the small settlement of Raupunga .
