Mohamed Elsayed

Mohamed Elsayed (born April 22, 1973 ) is a former Egyptian boxer . Elsayed won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics in the heavyweight division .

Career

Elsayed showed himself for the first time on the international level in 2002 when he finished second at a tournament in Baku and third at a tournament in Makhachkala . In the same year he also won a tournament in Kampala . In 2003 Elsayed took part in the World Championships , but after a win over Jason Douglas, Canada (19:13), and a loss to Steffen Kretschmann , Germany (RSC), did not get past the round of 16. In the same year he won the bronze medal at the Afro-Asian Games , which took place for the first and only time, and then the silver medal at the Pan-African Games , which qualified him for the 2004 Olympic Games . With this result Elsayed won the Olympic bronze medal.

At the Olympic Games Elsayed reached the semifinals with victories over Igor Alborov, Uzbekistan (+18: 18), and Adam Forsyth, Australia (27:12), which he could not play against Viktor Sujew , Belarus , because he was with one broken arm did not get through medical inspection.

After this great success Elsayed retired from boxing.
