Arno Baruzzi

Arno Baruzzi (born February 17, 1935 in Singen am Hohentwiel ; † July 20, 2016 in Munich ) was a German philosopher , political scientist and university professor .

Career

After studying at the Universities of Freiburg , Bonn and Munich , Baruzzi received his doctorate in 1965 in Munich under Max Müller with a thesis on studies of philosophy as a critique of time with regard to Martin Heidegger . In 1972, he also received his habilitation in Munich with his book Man and Machine .

As early as 1962, he was a research assistant for philosophy , and until 1974, he also took over the chair for political theory . In addition, Baruzzi was a lecturer at the University of Politics in Munich from 1968 to 2001 , where he temporarily held the position of dean of the political theory department. He acted as editor and co-editor of the Philosophical Yearbook from 1969 to 1995. In 1973 and 1974 Baruzzi was also managing director of the Geschwister Scholl Institute for Political Science .

In 1975 he accepted a professorship for philosophy at the University of Augsburg , which he held until his retirement in April 2003. During this time, from 1987 onwards, various multiple visiting professorships fell at the University of Ulm , at the Law Faculty of the University of Augsburg, and at various universities in Japan .

Research priorities

Baruzzi dealt with legal philosophy , Europe's autonomy and solidarity and already with his dissertation with philosophizing with Jaspers and Heidegger . He was fundamentally interested in the importance of the humanities and the subject of political philosophy and business ethics . His visiting professorships in Japan made it possible to expand the range of topics to include anthropology and climatology from a Japanese perspective.
