Josef Hofbauer (mathematician)

Josef Hofbauer (* 1956 in St. Pölten , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian mathematician . He is Professor of Biomathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna .

Life

Hofbauer studied mathematics at the University of Vienna, where he in 1978 Johann Cigler on contributions to Rota's theory of the consequences of Binomialtyp doctorate (the formal doctorate in 1979 sub auspiciis Praesidentis rei publicae ) and was then at the University of Vienna, the Northwestern University in Evanston , Illinois , the University of Alberta in Edmonton , and the Collegium Budapest . In 2004 he took up a professorship at University College London . In 2006 he was appointed to the University of Vienna.

Hofbauer's areas of specialization are dynamic systems and their applications in biomathematics and evolutionary game theory . He collaborated and published with Karl Sigmund .
