Mohamed Fitouri ( Arabic محمد الفيتوري, DMG Muḥammad al-Fītūrī ; * April 14, 1925 in Kairouan , Tunisia ; † April 10, 2006 ) was a Tunisian diplomat and politician of the Socialist Destur Party .

Life

Fitouri worked as a lawyer and became a member of the National Assembly in September 1969 as a representative of the Socialist Destur Party , the unity party of Tunisia . On November 6, 1970 he was succeeded Habib Bourguiba jr. Justice Minister in the government of Prime Minister Hédi Nouira and held this post until a government reshuffle on October 29, 1971, whereupon Mohamed Bellalouna became his successor. He himself replaced Abderrazak Rassaa as finance minister in this cabinet reshuffle and held this post until he was replaced by Abdelaziz Mathari after another government reshuffle on December 26, 1977.

Thereupon Fitouri took over after this reshuffle from Habib Chatty on December 26, 1977 the office of Foreign Minister, which he held until shortly before the end of Nouira's term on April 15, 1980. His successor was Hassan Belkhodja , who was previously Minister of Transport and Telecommunications.
