Mohammed Aluloom

Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom (born April 20, 1958 ) is an Iraqi economic manager and diplomat who has been permanent representative to the United Nations since September 2017 .

Life

After attending school, Aluloom completed a degree in electrical engineering at the University of Technology in Baghdad , founded in 1975 , which he completed with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Electronics). A postgraduate course in professional digital technology at London's Brunel University , he graduated with a Master , and was in the following years as a business manager working for engineering, telecommunications and media companies. In addition, he became an advisor to the Iraqi Government Council in 2003 and subsequently an advisor to the interim government of Iraq in 2004 . In 2009 he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the rank of ambassador and was subsequently head of various departments and was significantly involved in restructuring measures within the ministry. He was then Ambassador to Kuwait between 2010 and 2016 and then head of the US Department of the State Department from 2016 to September 2017.

On September 12, 2017, he presented his letter of accreditation as Permanent Representative to the United Nations . In addition, he was elected Chairman of the Committee on Disarmament and International Security (Main Committee 1) of the UN General Assembly on September 28, 2017 .

Aluloom is married and has four children.
