Mohammed al-Assar

Mohammed al-Assar or Mohamed El-Assar ( Arabic محمد العصار, DMG Muḥammad al-ʿAṣṣār ; *  June 3, 1946 ; †  July 6, 2020 ) was Egyptian Minister of State for Military Production from September 2015 until his death .

Al-Assar holds a PhD in engineering from the Military Technical College in Cairo . After his career in the armed forces of Egypt , he became Deputy Minister of Defense for Armaments Affairs and as such a member of the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces in the wake of the revolution in Egypt in 2011 . On September 19, 2015, he was appointed Minister of State for Military Production in the Ismail cabinet and confirmed in his post in the Madbuli cabinet in 2018 . He filled this out until his death. The day before his death, his spokesman announced that his health was stable. Al-Assar was buried with a state funeral on July 7th .

Awards and honors

One month before his death, President al-Sisi made al-Assar an honorary lieutenant general in the Egyptian armed forces.
