history

In a document in 1147 a church was named as a branch of the Kobenz parish church . With an independent parish in 1225, the church was consecrated again in 1515. In 1949 there was a restoration.

architecture

The church has a mighty Romanesque square choir tower on the lower floors . The tower between the nave and the choir is wider than the same. The tower has been changed in the neo-Gothic style on the upper floors and has a pointed helmet with four small accompanying corner turrets.

The nave, which is essentially Romanesque, was vaulted around 1515 with a three-bay curved star rib vault on capped semicircular services. The Gothic choir from the 14th century with a five-eighth closure has a ribbed vault with a round keystone, and the ribbed vault in the choir square was probably built at the same time. The nave and the choir show pointed arch windows, the window in the north slope of the choir is narrower and shows the glass painting St. Margaretha from the middle of the 15th century, in the other windows there are panes with saints from the glass painting E. Strobl 1911.

The three-axis west gallery stands on octagonal pillars and is vaulted under the groin, the protruding wooden gallery is baroque. The sacristy north of the tower has a flat barrel vault. The west, south and sacristy portal is ogival, the south and sacristy portal have doors with Gothic fittings.

On the south wall of the nave, the church shows a baroque group of crosses with poor souls by Balthasar Prandtstätter from the second quarter of the 18th century. There three Roman stones walled in, one of them with a relief of a married couple, two with Medusa heads and dolphins.

Furnishing

The altars were created with the use of older parts around 1840. The high altar with Akandus cheeks around 1700 shows the altarpiece St. Margarethe. The left side altar shows the image of St. Maria. The right side altar shows the image of St. Sebastian and carries a baroque shrine with Christ on the scourge column from the first half of the 18th century.

The organ is neo-Gothic. Matth. Köstenbauer 1742.
