Nile Order
The Nile Order , Arabic قلادة النيل العظمى, DMG qilādat an-nīl al-ʿuẓmā 'greatest Nile ribbon', is the highest order of merit in Egypt and is awarded for extraordinary service to the nation.
history
It was introduced in 1915 by Sultan Hussein Kamil . Its name refers to the Nile , which is of vital economic importance to Egypt. The order shows an allegory of the source of the Nile and is surrounded by eight rubies and two turquoises . The band is azure with two yellow vertical lines on each side.
After the military coup in 1952 , the order was retained, only changes were made to the statutes.
